PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHMENT
The farm was established to provide the much-needed facilities for training Veterinary doctors, Agriculture officers, and Food scientists in practical aspects of their profession and continues to provide those services to date. The veterinary students learn skills on pregnancy diagnosis, herd health, production management and ambulatory services. Agriculture students learn skills on farm practice, management and aspects of animal production. A number of postgraduate students have used the farm facilities for their research work. Over and above the above core functions, the farm has continued to provide extension services to visiting farmers/school groups, including others outside Kenya. It has also acted as a source of superior genetic resources for a large number of farmers over the years.
